About Me
My name is Paula Castro Fraga, and I was born in Montevideo, Uruguay.
I'm a Madrid-based film producer with a Master's Degree in Producing from MetFilm School, London. My short film Don't Damn the Sun, co-produced with director Hekla Elísabet, screened at the Short Film Corner at Cannes, as well as the Toronto Women's Film Festival, the New York Indie Short Film Festival, and the José Ignacio International Film Festival.
With a Bachelor's degree in Communication, I have experience in creative projects and audiovisual production, combining a strong academic background with practical skills in production management, storytelling, editing, advertising, and content management.
I've worked on set as a production assistant on feature films, and I bring a hands-on understanding of every stage of the filmmaking process — from development and financing to production management and festival strategy. I'm currently based in Madrid, building my career at the intersection of independent film and audiovisual storytelling.
Festival de Cannes 2026
In May 2026, I had the opportunity to attend the Short Film Corner at the Cannes Film Festival, where I presented "Don't Damn the Sun" alongside director Hekla. The film, which had previously screened at the José Ignacio Film Festival, was an incredible experience to share on an international stage. Being part of Cannes allowed me to engage with industry panels and connect with directors, producers, and distributors from around the world, further fueling my passion for cinema and storytelling.
MISSION
I am passionate about bringing stories to life while supporting the producer and director in realising their creative vision. I am excited by the prospect of collaborating with talented individuals, overseeing complex productions, and playing an integral role at every stage of a project’s development.
I believe that production logistics and budgeting are the cornerstones of any successful project; without them, productions risk delays, inefficiencies, and increased costs. As a production manager, I aim to anticipate potential challenges and provide effective, budget-conscious solutions during the filming process
